Now

This is a Now page. Thanks to Derek Sivers (and all the other people who have published Now Pages) for the inspiration for this page. This page was last updated in November 2017.

Business

  • I’ve opened up a new development agency called Booster Stage. We help bootstrapped startup founders create their SaaS products.
  • ContentUpgrade.me is another side project at the moment. It helps entrepreneurs grow their email lists using lead magnets.
  • MemberMan hasn’t done well unfortunately, and so I decided to stow the idea for now. The product is great but I picked the wrong market. I’ll post more on that when I have the energy.
  • I sold my previous business, Donor Tools, to my partners in 2015.

Family

  • We just welcomed our fifth child in September. She’s a real sweetheart.
  • Bethany is teaching at our kids’ homeschool group, Regina Caeli Academy. It’s a hybrid classical Catholic school. It’s called “hybrid” because the students meet two days each week in a formal school setting, and the rest of the week is independent study

Hobbies

  • I had to give up on flying. My flight instructor retired (he was 89 years old, so yeah). The closest flight school is too far away to be practical, so I decided to stow that ambition for a while.
  • Shooting. I wish I could do more of this, but shooting classes are expensive. Still, dry-fire training is cheap, so I make due.
  • Gardening. In addition to the greenhouse we now have a new hugelculture and two fruit tree orchards. Each fruit tree is in the process of becoming a tree guild.

Books I’m reading

  • Running Lean by Ash Maurya
  • Sprint by Jake Knapp
  • Traction by Gabriel Weinberg
  • The Lean Startup by Eric Ries
  • Positioning by Al Ries and Jack Trout
  • Les Miserables (yes, still)
